The
camp site is called The Clump because of the "clump" of trees. It is hard to locate and find the cairn. Burke and Wills arrived here on 5/9/1860. There is some questioning about the exact location of the
camp, but locals have erected the cairn in this location. Nearby is a faded sign that was erected in 1998. It has some inaccuracies in that it said there were 54
camp sites between
Melbourne and
Cooper Creek.
