Point Bell is a prominent peninsula located south east of
Point Sinclair on the
Great Australian Bight.
The headland has a meta-sedimentary basement, capped by calcarenite and 50m clifftop dunes. There are no beaches along the 3km rocky eastern foreshore of the point.
The western side of the peninsula is more exposed and has three beaches each backed and bordered by calcarenite capped bedrock.
The safest swimming is in the calm waters in the lee of Point Bell, as rips dominate the more open central beach, with permanent rips toward
Rocky Point. The Point Bell beaches, while moderately protected, are dominated by reefs and strong rips during bigger seas. Reef breaks provide surfing opportunities from both points, and beach breaks along the main beach.
Both points attract
rock fishers, with
the beach providing access to some of the central and eastern rip holes.
