Arkaroola Village is
the settlement and resort at the hub of a 61,000 hectare wilderness sanctuary in the Northern
Flinders Ranges in South Australia, adjacent to
Gammon Ranges National Park and the Mawson Plateau. The Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary is located 700 km north of
Adelaide in South Australia. The most common way to get there is by car, but a plane can be chartered from Parafield Airport in northern
Adelaide.
Privately owned and operated by the Sprigg family, descendants of Reg Sprigg (geologist). Arkaroola Village can offer the visitor a wide range of activities and features: camping and accommodation, a store, service station and an
information centre. The
Visitors Information Centre can help with details of what there is to see and do around Arkaroola, from walking trails and scenic drives, to scenic flights, guided 4WD tours and a look at the universe from the astronomical observatory.
