According to journals,
Camp 7 (Mathesons) was in the area close to the current day Heathcote Park Dragway - being on a rise with comparatively driver ground - some 2
miles along "the old bush road" leading to Goornong and Barna-down near Matheson's Hotel. This is NOT correct according to the book Following Burke and Wills. The
camp 7 was some 2kms south near the Matheson Hotel which is no longer there.
