Packsaddle Road for 16.1km and then turn left at the
fork (signed to
Mount Meharry 4WD only). After 5kkm you will come to the railway crossing (beware of
mine vehicles and road trains) and continue another 4.5km to your first glimpse of Mt Meharry as you enter Rio Tinto land. After a wide
creek crossing (dry unless its a big wet season) you'll come to the extent of 2WD access. This is 5.4km from
the summit. The next 2km is easy 4WD but then you'll come to a big
hill that requires low range 4WD in the final 3km to
the summit. Do not proceed unless you are a competent 4WDriver - stop and walk the final section if necessary.
