East of Beech Forest, this sealed beautiful 17km tourist route winds through thick rainforest vegetation towards Tambryn. Cars are limited to 40km/hr due to lack of vision around corners and it is NOT suitable for caravans but is a must-do drive. It is an alternative route from Lavers
Hill to
Apollo Bay, or can be part of a round trip from
Apollo Bay through Lavers
Hill taking in the Maits Rest Walk,
Cape Otway Lighthouse, several waterfalls, and returning via Turtons Track and the
Forrest-
Apollo Bay Rd through Skenes Creek. If you look carefully, you might be able to differentiate the rare native Mountain Ash that grows in the Olangolah Flora and Fauna Reserve, although most people generally focus on
the redwoods. It is worth going to the
visitor centre and reading up or chatting to the locals to learn about the area before you take the drive to fully appreciate this spectacular environment.
