Forestry first began at
Wirrabara and Bundaleer in the 1870s. To ensure the most appropriate trees for the soil and climate were chosen, an experimental nursery was set up and exotic trees from around the globe were planted. The old nursery is now one of the main attractions when visiting the
Wirrabara forest.
Magnificent Elms, Ashes and Oaks Stand tall and are a testament to our forestry pioneers. The colours of each season, the prolific wildlife and the history recorded and presented at the old nursery make it a must to visit.
