The first white man to discover this
hill was a South Australian surveyor by the name of
Theodore Earnest Day. He erected a small stone cairn on Poodinitterra
Hill in 1916. The next important Explorer to visit them was Dr Cecil Madigan in his 1939 crossing of the
Simpson Desert. Madigan's
Camp 2 is also located in this area and a second stone cairn was erected by Reg Sprigg in 1962 in recognition on Madigans Expedition of the Simpson.
