Blencoe Falls camping area is managed by QPWS so dogs are not permitted and fees appy (pay online). Numerous
bush camping sites are available in a peaceful setting by the Blencoe Creek which flows some kilometres above the main falls. It is considered croc-safe.The main camping spots are found near the
toilet huts where a few bays lead to the creek edge with a sandy shoreline. No
bins. There is Telstra mobile phone service. If you are able to
camp on unlevel rocks then take the rutted 4wd track beyond here that leads upstream to additional small camping bays - with tight, narrow access and rutted entrances. These sites are not level and some only on
rock slabs but the reward is swimming and
views of a fast flowing cascade.
Drinking water is not provided. Generators are allowed subject to conditions.
Camp fires are permitted subject to conditions. Suitable for 4WD, off-road camper trailers and tents. The Wet Tropics Great Walk also offers hike-in sites and campers need to be totally self-sufficient.
Camp fires are allowed within the camping areas but firewood must not be collected from the national park. Before travel,
check Park Alerts as conditions for the National Park can change from time to time.
Blencoe Falls—one of the most stunning waterfalls in Australia—plunges 90m to
the pool below, before cascading a further 230m to the bottom of Blencoe
Gorge. These magnificent falls can be reached by road via the 5.6km
Blencoe Falls Access Road to a wonderful
lookout or via a 3.2km walking trail that leads to the same
lookout. There is no camping at the
Blencoe Falls Lookout.
