Dunedoo is a small town with a love of poetry, art and rural life in the beautiful Warrumbungle region of NSW. You’ll be charmed by the country hospitality and the
heritage in the picturesque town by the Talbragar River.
Dunedoo is at
the junction of the Golden and Castlereagh highways. There are great cafes, a classic country pub, wonderful poetry and art festivals, and an enticing antiques store
The 1913-built Hotel Dunedoo is a two-storey brick pub on a corner of the main street. The wide wooden verandah is a striking feature. Stop by for cool drinks and hearty meals in the pub, which changed its name from the Talbragar Hotel to the Hotel Dunedoo in the year after it was built.
The Dunedoo Historical Museum contains intriguing artefacts and stories of the region, including mining, agricultural and military history and Aboriginal artefacts. The building also houses a local library with a collection of local history books and photos.
Dunedoo is a great base for memorable day trips to spectacular nearby attractions. The
Warrumbungle National Park is north, the Taronga Western Plains Zoo is west, the
Coolah Tops National Park is east and the
Mudgee wine region is south.
The Dunedoo Show is a popular event held in March. The whole family will be thrilled with the whip cracking, sheep shearing, dog jumping, post splitting and carnival rides. In May is the splendid Art Unlimited, an exhibition and competition that attracts entries from all over Australia.
