Urunga is a town of around 3,000
population, located at the mouth of the Bellenger River on the NSW Mid North Coast some 28 km south of
Coffs Harbour. It is a beach and fishing town with two caravan parks and the facilities normally offered by a town of that size. It is the eastern end of The Waterfall Way offering easy access to the
Dorrigo Plateau and the town of Belligen.
A prominent tourist feature is the board walk that starts at the river bank near the larger caravan park and provides a 1 km walk to the southern headland of the river and 1 half km spur walk that leads along the balks of a backwater into the coastal vegetation. The boardwalk also provides access to beaches and fishing spots along the river bank.
