This
lookout is in a reserve situated in an elevated position overlooking the township of
Kapunda. There is interpretive signage detailing aspects of
Kapunda’s history at the
lookout.
The
hill has a panoramic view of
Kapunda and is named after Captain Gundry who managed an early copper
mine on the site and lived in a cottage diagonally opposite
the entrance to the
lookout. Stone excavations were later roofed and used to stable Sir Sidney Kidman’s horse-drawn vehicles.
Turn west off Main Street and travel down
Clare Road, before turning right onto West Terrace. Follow this street to the end. It is a short walk from here to the
lookout.
Parking is very limited and definitely not recommended for caravans.
