Long Plain Hut campground is a great launch pad for mountain biking, hiking, fishing and horse riding adventures in the High Plains of northern
Kosciuszko National Park.
The
campsite is elevated, offering
views over
Long Plain. Grassy sites,
toilets, firepits, picnic tables. There is an adjacent horse
camp if the main
camp is too busy. Set up your caravan or pitch your tent with a view of historic
Long Plain Hut, nestled among sub-alpine bushland dotted with snow gum and candlebark trees. Over 100 years old, the weatherboard hut is one of many historic alpine huts to discover in the high plains.
Take
drinking water, cooking water and firewood. Maximum length of stay is 14 days at this
campground.
There are no camping fees at this
campground, but a $6 booking fee applies. Book on-line.
Alpine areas present special safety issues. Conditions can be extreme and may change rapidly, particularly in winter. It’s important to be prepared and find out how to stay safe in alpine areas.
