The old abandoned buildings of the former Pajinka Wilderness Lodge are located on the track just before the tip. Apparently the
Cape York Wilderness Lodge was opened in 1986 by Bush Pilot Airways. The resort cost approx. $1.2 million to build.
Ownership changed to another airline (Ansett) and then later to Qantas Airlines, who actually owned it at the time it was sold to the
Injinoo Aboriginal Cooperation in 1992. The resort was by this stage renamed as the Pajinka Wilderness Lodge. It closed in 2002 for renovations - due to reopen in 2003; but it never did.
