Tasmanian Adventure

Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd February 2014 - we had a good crossing much to Colin's relief - no seasickness. arose at 4am for shower and breakie before embarking onto Tassie shores. Getting through quarantine was a pain but eventually we set off on the Bass Highway. first stop was Ulverstone for a look around, petrol top up and food shopping. We then motored on to Penguin . A quaint little seaside town where there are penguins galore (the statue sort). We then journeyed on to Sulphur Creek, Burnie and Wynyard. Most of these places along the Bass Strait coast remind me a lot of Rosebud on the Mornington peninsular around 40 years ago. After Wynyard we dropped into a gorgeous place called Sister's Beach. Quiet, unspoiled coastal hamlet with magnificent white sandy beaches. I could have moved there on the sport. Alas no camping allowed. We then drove to another idyllic beach, Rocky Cape, still no camping. This is situated in the Rocky Cape National Park. Great walking, scrub and beaches. Getting tired at this stage after our early morning start, we found an oasis at Crayfish Creek. Wonderful caravan park. Booked in for a few nights to recharge and use this as a base for further exploration around Stanley and the North West Coast.
