Hi all, my name is Steve and I have been playing with 4wds since 1992. My first truck was an BJ42 diesel landcruiser. Only had that about 18months. Then there was a 1984 dual cab hilux diesel that I had for four years and was the first truck that took me touring. Did a trip to the cape which started me getting into touring more seriously. Next was 91 80 series (which was stolen recently). Mostly a hardcore offroad toy but I did use it to tour as
well. A 14000k trip that had us leave
Newcastle, head up the cape via western QLD, across the gulf,
Kakadu,
Darwin,
Litchfield national park,
Alice springs, the old Ghan,
Chambers Pillar, Mt Dare, Delhousie springs, across the French line,
Birdsville, Innaminca,
Cameron corner then
home.
About the trucks:
The Toy (now gone but long remembered)
1991 80 series play truck, 4in coils 2in bodylift, 35 wrangler mtrs, 1hz diesel denco turbo, this was going to be rebuilt into a extra cab ute for more playing.
The Workhack
1995 80 series GXL, work truck 4.5 petrol/gas 285/75/r16 cooper atrs. This has taken over playing and daily driver duties until the old one is fixed.
The Tourer
1999 GU patrol 4.2ltr turbo, 3in coils, 285/75/r16 cooper st on 16" King steel wheels, aftermarket intercooler, Dual batteries, safari
snorkel, ARB bar, Kmar rear bar,
home made draws and
water tank, cargo barrier, long range tank, HF/VHF/UHF radios, Hema and Garmin gps.
Ultimate camper trailer for a bit of luxury when traveling.
