Hi all,
I had a Pajero 2007 diesel 5 door for the last 4 years and its time to trade it in. l thought I'd give
feedback on how its performed over the 4 years good and bad.
Ive travelled 380767kms in the 4 years and not without drama. Twice it has gone into 'limp home"mode where you basically have limited power and a top speed of 40km/h. Once whilst on the great ocean rd at Warnabool (due to a pollution sensor failing) and once in
Cobar( due to the particulate filter in the exhaust becoming excessively blocked with carbon so it wouldn't allow the injection of diesel to burn it off).
The time it happened in
Cobar meant an 8 hr drive to Dubbo in Summer with no AC working.
Both of these could have been prevented with proper servicing from a Mitsubishi dealer (we dont have one in
Parkes and the nearest is an hours drive) The local ford dealer was doing my servicing (they used to be Mitsubishi) so it was prob my fault not the cars.
On the black top or fast dirt rds they are a pleasure to drive, solid and predictable IMHO easily better then the Prado (which my boss drives) The only time I have preferred the Prado is when we are in 4x4 low when it overtakes the Pajero.
I have used it to tow my Cub @ 712kgs and my Polycraft @ 1278kgs. on numerous trips. These ranged from 100kms up to 4 trips over 4000km in length and one trip of 6600km towing the polycraft. Under tow it is again surefooted and a pleasure to drive.
All up it was a good car to drive and I can see why they have a loyal following. If someone was looking for a reliable and capable wagon they could do a lot worse.
My next car is a dual cab hilux diesel, the just realised update so I'll see how she goes.
Cheers Wilko

What a pity,,,,, I could have sold you the troopy. lol
My daughter picks up my Dmax on Friday, but I don't get to see it until the 10th September.
Although I must admitt I'm getting all excited.
I don't think you will have to many problems with the Hilux.

Hi Meggs,
Yes unfortunately, but its more like do 6000kms in a week then nothing for 3 weeks.
I wont be doing as many in the hilux, big restructure, am taking on a different area so less driving kms and more flying.

That is a great record to only have those problems in that time.
Mind you you do cover some distance and that is better for the vehicle then going back and forward to the
shop three times a week.
Good luck with the Hilux.
Cheers

Hi Wayne,
It was a good car let me down twice in 4 years, I cant really complain. The only real downside is the lack of Mitsubishi Dealers, Toyotas are everywhere.

Its the 4.8mt cuddy cub. The Poly's are at least 10% heavier then equivalent fibreglass boats.
That weight is the fully loaded weight (eskys fuel and fishing gear) as shown on the weighbridge,
Gotta love the extra weight when the going gets rough they handle the rough stuff
well.
