So do I Boobook. Yours is the best answer to the recent myriad of questions of these types that I have seen.

I heard from a B'ville local last week that the NPWS Ranger checked it last week and it was over chest deep , assume that would be 1.5 m ?

Boobook,
It wouldn't be the first time I drove on a road that was open when I got there but was said to be closed on the Internet. Pyalong was just asking a question and a good one also so there is no need to be smart. It's no wonder some people choose to leave this forum. What is the good of this forum if it's users basically get told to do their own research elsewhere. Some threads may bore you and some questions seem lame to you but to others are relevant, so step down sunshine and give him a break. Mick

Thanks for the responses gents. I dont get around the internet as much as I do getting out there, so had not known of a couple of those sites (Thanks for posting them Boobook).

The sites I did look up, the updates were some weeks old, so posted the question in the hope that either someone local, or had been there very recent, was online..... and knew what was going on.

Of my travels in that area I have only had to use the bypass once, so dont know the extent or time frame the creek has to get down to for it to be open...... just fishing for estimations I suppose.

Mick..... You are quite correct about some info. A few times over the years have been told, either via internet or on the road by others that a certain road or track will be murderous on the vehicle......and when checked it out myself, could not understand how they came to that conclusion. Having said that, I have always found this site to be a good reference point. Just need to try and guess what some authors inputs actual experience and resolve is.

Stockade ...... 1.5m, yep.....very high.....struth....was no where near that when last there. That may take awhile to subside if more water on its way. It would actually be quite interesting to see it with that much water!.

Cheers,
Mick.

oh....Mick....I took no offence whatsoever with Boobooks and Devils tongue in cheek comments...always good to have a giggle.....but thanks for sticking up for me mate....hehehehe...cheers.

Thanks Pyalong. Jesus Mick, lighten up. Talk about maiking mountain...

You may notice that I took quite a bit od time to answer Pylong's question and provided the information I was aware of. Just making a crack at the end. More than you can claim. :-)

Sorry If I offended you at all Pylong. ( but not you Mick)

Boobook

Never argue with an idiot, as he/she will only wear you down and beat you with experience.

You never offend anyone when you say as it is.

I spoke to Don (Birdsville Ranger) last week and he said it was up to his neck and he reckons he's 6' tall. Whether it was his chest or neck it's a worry.

I've got a group from the Melbourne Nissan Club (led by a Prado, but there you go!) which will be there about 14th August so I'm interested to keep up with the latest info.

Don did say he was going to check again at the ned of July, but was fairly sure the Eyre would be crossable higher up towards Annandale. We've got permission to camp there so I'm hoping it all falls into place.

I gather from the owner of Annandale that the road towards Corillo Downs is rough as and the Innamincka causway is out.

Water has apparently cut the Birdsville Track, but the ferry was about to be recommissioned last I heard. So it looks as if we get over the Eyre Creek we'll get a boat ride in the desert.

Regards
Robert Norman
