Hi all I am looking at a map for an upcoming trip and it shows the road from Nappa Merrie via Arrabury heading north to be sealed. Last time I was up that way it was dirt. Can anyone help with info on this bit of road. John c

Hi John

I am not sure what map you are checking but like you the last time we were there it was all dirt. I have just checked the 2010 Hema South East Sheet Map and it still has it all dirt. I could be wrong, but would have thought that there are far more major outback roads that need upgrading before that section of road. I know that when you get past the Ballera Gas fields and heading east that there is a sealed road through to Thargomindah.

What map are you using that shows it sealed?

Cheers

Hi John

We went from Noccundra to Birdsville via Arrabury on 26th December 2010 and it was all dirt then. A few ks of bitumen on the Birdsville to Windorah road just before Dions lookout. With all the rain we were having at that time the drive was spectacular to say the least. Especially the very early stages from the Nappa Merrie end.

My preferred route lots of changes in scenery, and gravel/sand all the way.
