Hi
We are planning on going to the Diggins
Campground at Kosciuszko NP at
Easter. We will have a camper trailer and 2 kids aged 4 & 7.
Would this be the best one to go to? Can anyone suggest any others?
Thank you
Rachel

Heaps of choice as KNP as s so big. I am not sure where diggins is but there are plenty of beautiful camping spots.
Tantangara Dam is nice as is the
Murrumbidgee River where it runs in to the
dam,
3 mile dam is nice, great camping at the back of Tumut Ponds Reservoir (access through the Mt Selwyn Car park.
Blowering
Dam near Tumut is also awesome especially for the kids, heaps of Kangaroos, Emu's, swimming, fishing, boating etc. Jounama Creek camping ground near Talbingo is also nice, pretty quiet, has a
toilet and is 3k from Talbingo and facilities etc
The choices are endless really.

One thing to note with Blowering at the moment - since it has recently filled up after 15 odd years of being 70% or less, the tree / scrub line has encroached on the waterline. If they drop some water out by
Easter it will be OK but at the moment camping space is actually very very limited. And at
easter Blowering will be packed.

Not sure what part of the NP you're heading for but the
Geehi Flats
camp ground on Swampy Plains Creek is great. Nice clear fast flowing creek and lots of room although I expect it will be busy at
Easter.

Thanks. Is there any trouble getting a camping spot even if it's packed? We were heading to the Thredbo area.

Everywhere is going to be busy over
Easter. The nice thing about
Geehi (apart from the river and setting) is that there's lots of room. If you just keep driving through the
camp it leads off to a very big
open space. But try to go early.

If its too packed along the Thredbo there is quite a bit of space at
Island Bend,one area has
toilets but the rest is
bush camping. The authorities are generally smart enough not tho vary the water level during holidays but I would still be careful and stay above the high water mark.

We just spent a few nights at Ngarigo
camp area, its 3.6 ks further on from The diggings area towards Thredbo,24 ks south of
Jindabyne. We stopped at The diggings, it was ok and is a fairly big
camp area but we moved to Ngarigo. It started to fill up around 3pm on Boxing Day so
Easter would be busy i would think. Nice areas and fishing on your door. fires ok but only in supplied pits so if you want a fire , you need to get a
camp close to one.. Michael

The Diggings has more shade than Ngarigo but shhh... don't tell anyone. For Thredbo activities these two are the closest and are free after paying the $16/day NP entry. They will be crowded at
Easter. From the Diggings you can walk/ bike 2km down to the Skitube
bridge and an historic hut. Chairlift is $23/adult single, not return -ouch!
Leatherbarrel Ck camping is beyond
Dead Horse Gap and
Geehi is further again. Try the Thredbo River walk which goes upstream from the village. There's a nice waterfall about a km up...... W
