we kayaked from the punt, across the lake to the actual track. Now you can drive across it again only weeks later. What a fantastic country :)

Hi Gone Troppo
Yes the ABC has the story now, but who broke the news a couple of weeks back, and everyone on the EO
forum heard it first back then.
Cheers
Stephen

Suppose with the latest events slowing up they are looking past the city for news events. Even if its a couple of weeks old. Good photo.

Last report I heard was it might run till April.
The rain must have changed catchment's since then, oh
well there will be another row of Coolibah in a few years time.
I presume
Warburton crossing will be still closed?.
The cattle will be fat and sassy up the track anyway, they were looking good last winter after the rains. I presume with the live export problems more cattle will be heading South?.
I might have to go back and have another look, seen the country in a severe dust storm and in flood, all interesting, not that I would like to live there.

Good old ABC, they are always first to break an outback story and way ahead of their commercial mates. Will keep an eye on the ABC as to when my namesake will cross again.

Just to follow up, it is also on the SA Govt Outback roads site as closed as off today and may open later if needed, they are saying more water may come down later in the year.

Those who live by the punt would like to see a fund to have the punt placed in SA motor museum were it belongs. Nice for a tourist icon but if you have to live by the restrictions you too would like to see something more pratical. It seems the minning companies can beat the restrictions of the Cooper but the SA Gov. can't provide the ' servicable road networks ' as their policies state.
