I'll be with a group in the middle of the Simpson on July 7 and they want to listen in to the Rugby League Origin 3 match - anybody know if there will be a live radio broadcast on any of the ABC stations I can listen to on my Codan
HF radio?
cheers

I tuned in a few years back (on the trusty Codan) in the
Simpson Desert.
Twas on the ABC with Roy & HG doing the commentary.
Was the best 'footy call' I ever heard !!

Just lay back and listen to the stars twinkle.
The best team on the day will win anyway.
HF will give you the results in the morning round about 7 am I think.
Cheers.

I listened to the AFL grand final on HF a few years back. Not sure about the programming for the Rubgy though. You might get lucky.

I imagine they play rugby at night - so you should have no problems tuning into some station with it on just with a normal radio
i sometimes listen to power games when the local Wa abc isnt broadcasting them
just tune into 891

thanks for the info Boobook!
to many of the other posters - yeah, personally I never listen in to the outside world (especially sport) when in
the desert but this group of city slickers are keen to tune in so I'll help organise it. But that night I'll take my swag for a walk over the next dune to escape the racket :-)
If anyone's interested I'll be supporting a group called Multi Marathon who are raising funds for breast cancer -
Multi Marathon 2010
There will be two or three vehicles in support of 4 marathon runners. We start at the
Lambert Centre on July 1 and then the runners do a little over a marathon a day (44ks) for 15 days to run via New Crown, Mt Dare,
Purni Bore, French Line, QAA and finish in
Birdsville on July 15. We won't be going quick so we'll see lots of passing traffic and I think there will be an opportunity to make donations. People can donate via the website above. Stop and say gidday if you see us.
