I would be travelling with my boys, and will be the only driver. so were should I stop on the way for a break??

It would largely depend on how far you can safely and comfortably travel per day.
If you, or the boys have not been to the western area of NSW you may wish to take an extra day or two.
May I suggest you have a look at
Travelmate.
Scroll down and you can enter the start and destination and you will get a map of the route recommended.
Play around with it and work out how far you wish to travel each day. This will give you an idea how many days/hours required and then break it up into achievable chunks.
The NRMA would also be a valuable source of maps, etc.
Sit down with the boys and work it out together so that they get a good perspective and extra enjoyment from be involved in the planning of this great trek.
