G, Day,

I have just recently purchased a 2002 jayco swan for $13000.00,
as far as i can see the camper is in great alround condition, although a couple of the flysceens have a few small tears in them, is there anyway these can be repaired or does the whole screen have to be replaced?? if anyone could enlighten me regarding this, i would really appreciate it.

Cheers,

Doug.

Dougo,

If they are as you say small tears, I would just get a neddle and some Braid fishing line and stitch it togetrher along the tear.

Best of luck and enjoy the Swan.

Dougo,
Depending on the condition of the rest of the screen, the most effect way to repair is replace. In saying that if the rip or hole is from a foreign object going through the screen you may be able to patch it by getting a scrap of flyscreen from an upholsterer and using a small amount of clear silicon and glueing it on.
I have done this in the past and it held until I was in a better position to replace.

Regards

Franga

I tend to agree with Frangas reply , if you stitch it up as the other poster suggests then you will be putting strain on an individual thread top and bottom of the hole where as if you glue in a patch of fly screen it will have a larger surface area to absorb surface tension especially in winds and such - i have a small cut on my fly screen also ( jayco Flamingo ) and shall be adopting this procedure with mine

I don't mind the friendly ribbing between the two main contenders but that's a bit crude.
On the topic of fly screens I had a Jayco and patched some small cuts with silicone and never bothered with any further action as the screen was basically in good condition.

I think some of you are missing the point, it has nothing to do with a Nissan v Toyota arguement, but Ozbocs childish sense of humour

Unfortunately not all members of forums possess a sufficient level of maturity. So to Ozboc, his crude animation is really, really funny. But then again there would be some like minded Nissan owners who also find it amusing.

Credit where its due, it probably took him hours to make it up, so we shouldn't knock his efforts.Well done Ozboc, now you need to get back to your job at the village...

I agree it isn't the sort of image that should be displayed on a public forum. We have controls on language, where are the controls in inappropriate images?

I agree with Ozboc, who agrees with Franga. The glue patch is worth a go. Get a bit of flyscreen from Clark rubber or similar - if not successful, replace.

Regarding the Nissan logo, nah, not particularly funny but not really that offensive. I'm sure the almighty will forgive, if not split his sides.

Twinkle toes......Thanks for your dolt like reply, for the record I did not make the Gif, nor would I bother taking the time to make one, I pilfered it from the net. So call me a plagiarist if you must, but keep your childish comments to yourself.

Clearly you have no sense of humour, or you have viewed the image beyond what it is - a satirical overview of Nissan V Toyota and the endless banter that those 2 brands have created in not only 4x4 forums but the car world in general.

Now if everyone would think like you, the only literature or photos we would be allowed to view would be from the good book. And even they you would have people that would argue certain points in the bible. ( trust me i have studied the bible so that i can argue with religious missguided people that come to my door )

Do I tell you what you should be looking at? Do I force my opinion of what’s right or wrong on you? Just because you look at the image as something dirty and smutty, does not mean other people view it the same way. Many would view it for the satirical humour it was intended and not as an offending image. But I am sure I am wasting my time in this explanation to you as you would have your mind set, and incapable of looking beyond what your mind set already is.

Censorship is a very powerful tool, and once you use it where do you stop? I am sure that some thing your find interesting in internet viewing I would not be regard to optimum viewing , should I then have the power to tell you what you should be viewing? Remember after all this forum is a 4x4 forum – and ALL legal drivers of 4x4 vehicles are of adult age. IT’S our prerogative as adults to Ignore things we do not wish to view…. Anyway enough of my soap box I am sure I am wasting my time

Two points Boc , it is a public forum privately owned and NOT just 4x4 , kids as well as adults view this forum , my 9yr old pointed out the animation and asked the question of how a family orientated site can allow "rude" cartoons.
