Hi all, have received heaps of great help with planning my trip in October, but still chasing more!!!
I want to make an
overnight camp somewhere north of
Meekatharra on day 1 of the trip from
Perth to Karrajini and wondered if anyone can recomend a decent
free camping site somewhere just north of Meeka?

The
25 mile well, which is 41 kms north of
Meekatharra. Nice spot - we didn't
camp there but stopped and noted it is a good
camping spot.
If you want closer, there is
Peace Gorge, only 4 kms out on the road towards
Carnarvon. I haven't been there though.

192klm from the end of the divided road in Meeka is a
rest area at the Gascoyne River {Middle Branch} on the left below the bridge

Hi Robert,
We did a similar trip in Oct last year, and our first nights
camp was at a place called Bilyuin Pool. It's 76ks north of Meeka to the turn off (just past the 26th parrallel
sign) Turn left onto the Ashburton Downs -
Meekatharra road, follow this road for about 20ks until you cross the
Murchison river (usually dry) as you come out of the
river crossing there is a two wheel track on the left, follow this track for about 3ks and you will find
camping spots near a permanant
water hole, loverly spot, and there is fire wood there also. Have a great trip. I have GPS co-ords for this spot, if you need them please send me a member message.
Howard.

The guide to FREE-
CAMPING in the NORTH WEST is your freind, my freind.
2 spots are mentioned for North of
Meekatharra.
*Bilyuin Pool. 74km north of Meeka 13.5km along Ashburton Downs rd
*Gasgoine River south. 146 km north of Meeka. Turn at roadside
parking area (west side) follow tracks.
Both are pastoral leases. (livestock must have access to waters edge)

We pulled off the road on a recent trip at S25 41 28.7 E119 10 12.9 . 120 odd Km north of Meeka.
On the Eastern side of the road, some wood for a campfire.
