I have had a systems tank for a couple of years and have got to know the systems folk quite
well. Suffice to say, I would not buy another.
Good luck with your choice.
Happy trails, Mike.

I have had the 145 ltr Long
Ranger tank fitted for about 8 months on my 94 LWB GQ, with no problems, clearance and fitting are great. Be aware that the Fuel Guage (OME) will still only register the old tanks size (93 litre) so a bit of guess work is required with the remaining.
Another option, that I would probably consider (if I was doing it again) would be to fit a sub tank instead (under drivers side) and leave the origional in place. That way you could have another guage, and not have all the fuel in one tank.

I have a 4WD Systems tank on my GQ 92 model diesel. Absolutely no problems so far with the tank.
The only hassle I have had was the sender unit (original) was sticking to one of the baffles in the tank. This caused the tank to register at quarter full until it was empty!! All it needed was to be bent slightly to miss the baffle and no problems since.
The guage does only read the same as before, except in this case as the guage is lower than the top of the tank, I get around 400k before the needle starts to move. Once the needle does move I then get another 600k before it gets down to 'empty' on the guage. If I dont refuel straight away I can get another 100 or so k's. Then I fill and the maximum I have filled is around 140 litres (tank is 159 litres apparently).
Fuel ecomony is much better without the roofrack on.
The tank has lasted several long trips, including the
Great Central Road and across the nullabor. On both of these trips we saved dollars as we were able to get from
Laverton to
Yulara without refuelling and across the nullabor we only had to put in about $50 at which ever was the cheapest roadhouse between
Coolgardie and
Penong (SA)
4WD systems delivered to my door in country WA with no problems at all.
I've had this tank for 18 months now.
Good luck
Wayne

Surprise Surprise I got my 147 long range tank from ARB, no problems at all, I have the same issue though which is interesting that I do 350-360 klms before the needle moves as mentioned by someone else. The needle is accurate though when the gauge reads half a tank there is half a tank left, same with quarter and three quartes full. Keep the shiny side up

lj i have had 2 long
ranger tanks fitted to my various vehicles over the years. once fitted correctly i could not fault them. they sat under the vehicles
well and didn't interfere with the drivetrain. i chose to get a long
ranger tank because it didn't need a fuel gauge or any switches or electrics to go from one tank to the next. just fill it and forget it. no solenoids, pumps, gauges, electrics or anything else to fail. the only thing you need to establish is how many kilometres you will get out of your new tank.
2 things to be aware of though. if the hoses are not correctly fitted on installation the tank is only a big jerry can. it won't feed into the main tank. so do a
test fill before you head away on a long trip thinking your new tank works. it may not. as i have unfortunately found out. also i have noticed on my vehicle(1984 diesel troopy) i have a slight decrease in power when the 2nd tank is more than half full. may only be my vehicle doing it.
anyway i have had my current tank in the troopy for 5 years and done a few trips around aus. and have never had 1 problem with it.
well except for when the hoses weren't installed correctly.

We have a Long
ranger and it has been no probs. Goes about 350km before the needle starts to leave full scale deflection then seems to read similar to the original. Bought from ARB and they fitted.
Had previously bought a couple of things from 4wd systems and they were fine, delivered on time all parts intact etc. With the LR tank however, two enquiries and they never got back to us so we bought elsewhere. they must have their good and bad days like everyone else.

I have had 4WD systems tank in my 80 series (190 litres +) for about 2 years now and no problems whatsoever other than the the gauge reading full for the first 900 Km's before moving. This puts it in line with the old 55 litre tank that was in there and still leaves me a good 350 km's left as
well as the main tank.
4WD Systems delivered free to
Perth and I arranged freight to
Port Hedland myself.
Have bought a bit of other stuff from them without any problems but tend to agree with Truckster with regards to response to calls, e-mails etc. Their price is always competitive though and a direct call always gets a good response.

I have long
ranger tanks fitted to my GQ. by ARB. Both main & aux gives about 217 litres. Did the CSR and many other tracks and have not had one thought of a problem with them. No extra pumps etc to go wrong, they just gravity feed from aux to main.Bush Bappo's 4WD Club
