Hi All,
As indicated last year, we will be crossing the
Simpson Desert after the Mt Dare Opening Bash in May. We will take a line similar to Reg Sprigg and family's first west-east motorised crossing in 1962 through the North Simpson.
As Eyre Creek and the Mulligan are still up, it may
well be that we won't be able to get to
Birdsville but return to Mt Dare after Poeppel.
This is a serious raw desert excursion and should be fun. A small number of suitable equipped vehicles similar to Madigan requirements are invited to cross with us. The intention is to raise money for Breast Cancer Research (Pat is a two time survivor) and each vehicle is to raise $3000 sponsorship.
I hope some of you find it interesting.
Regards

Hi Ian,
I can't join in but is there a site to pledge donations to this cause.
I have lost a few good friends to breast cancer.
Good luck with it and best wishes to Pat as
well.
cheers
Wayne

Wayne,
I'll get back to you after Monday after I can discuss direct donations with the Mater Medical Research Institute. Thanks for the offer.
Cheers

Hi Ian.
We will be & Mt Dare for the opening bash, but will be crossing the Simpson to
Birdsville the regular way.
Will it be possible to cross to
birdsville via the French line & Poeppel cnr, as I am meeting the BIL there on the 13th of May?

Hi Jeff,
It will be 2 months from the time we were at Eyre Creek to the time after the bash and I think it won't be open. Kym from the
Birdsville Pub thought it would be OK for
Easter. We will have to wait and see. With nobody crossing it will take people to go out and look for us to be correctly informed.
Regards

Hi Ian & Pat, we are online again with new laptop, camera (soon GPS) and soon - new Ute! Left message for you with Dave the other day. We won't be out there until last week of May so will miss the Opening - but we'll be thinking of you, and floating around & over during June. Will be in touch when you get back.
The Desert is going to be GREAT this season.
