Big Woody
Just had a quick look at Weatherzone and the temperature in
Birdsville was 46 degrees at 9am this morning.
I think they manuall
check the temps in Birdville only at 9am and 3pm.
If it was that hot at 9am can you imagine it in the early afternoon?
Cheers,
Brett

Yeah you are probably right Mad Dog.
I just had a look at the Burea of Meteorology website and the temperature peaked at 46 degree's at 3pm yesterday so I would say when the man went to
check the readings at 9am this morning it showed the highest temp from the afternoon before.
Either way, it's still bl**dy HOT.

Here in London we are having a 'mild' max of 8 degrees, with another mild day for Christmas day, but becoming cold with sleet on boxing day.
I am returning to Australia (
Perth) on 5 January, and really looking forward to seeing the sun and getting some warmth.

Mate,
I said returning -- I have spent more years in the bush in Ozi than many here have had sleeps.
Just spent a while seeing how the other half lives, and realising while their are 2 types in this world, Ozis, and those who want to be :-)
Merry Christmas to all

Well, we all know that if it's on the internet, it's right, dont we?
According to the Bereau of Meteorology, at 15.00 EST on the 23 Dec. it was 46deg C. At 8.00 EST on 24 Dec. it was 29.5deg C.

Somehow, I think someone made a mistake, giving the lie to the myth that if it's on the net, it's right.

Laurie, Maybe today’s temperatures were measured in the water-bag … although I suspect that the wind direction and velocity in the right hand columns of your BOM link may have some bearing on the respite for the ‘Birdsvillagers. Veering from a central Australian north-westerly to a cooler south-westerly off the southern ocean may be the clue. In any event the Green Lizard bar will be a popular venue this time of the year!
Regards, Mal.
