Only 2 more sleeps then I am back in Aus and I can't wait

I will be there from 16th - 23rd, but I'm a newbie here anyway! Some final questions - which ferry is the politically correct one to use from Inskip Pt? Do we use the Waddy Pt tide times? Ummmmm think that's all. I'll be the Mum & 2 kids at Dunduberra (sp?) in the gold X-trail :D

Hi,

The barge you want is the Manta Ray and if you CLICK HERE you will be taken to their website.

For tides on Fraser CLICK HERE and you will be taken to Brownies Coastwatch webpage. Click on the boating tab and you will have an option to select tide times and from memory Waddy Point on Fraser and maybe some other places are available to be selected to check the tides.

Enjoy your trip.

We will be up there on the 24th to the 1st heading up the beach on the 24th in a Black Turbo Diesel 05 Hilux and 75 Series Ute. If you can let us all know about numbers on the island and conditions, only if you can.

I am taking the lappie with me but to test some GPS stuff, if I can get some internet somewhere I will let you know. I am normaly on channel 38 on the UHF. But from what I saw last night on the camping booking site most places are only around the 30% booked with these new camping rules and zones

I just spoke to the rainbow venture barge operator "Neil" he mentioned that not many people had gorne over as yet, but reminded me of the Boxing day rush as he calls it. Should be interesting to see how many people are over there.

not a problem, I didn't know about till about 4 weeks ago when another member told me that I need to book. If it wasn't for that then I would have turned up there without anything, thinking that I can just buy it there. Lucky I got it sorted, from looking on the site most camp sites are only about 30% booked out so I dont think allot of people know about this

Did anyone notice nat parks are starting to classify beach camping areas into zones meaning you will have to prebook/register a site within a zone prior to you driving onto the island.soon no more driving the beach and selecting the best spot to suit the conditions, anyone in doubt check out the website mentioned earlier by troll81
thanks for the replies
