I was talking to the new owner of Archer River Roadhouse this afternoon to check road conditions in the area.
Modina (I think that's her name) said there is only 30cm of water over the crossing and falling, after a whopping 15 metres peak during the recent cyclone.
There is no rain and things are drying out fairly quickly.
Locals from Weipa are saying the road is the worst they have seen in 15 years.
However road crews are reported to be starting grading from Coen next week.
So I hope I have reasonable conditions when I head off on May 13th
For those of you who new the previous owner Cheryl, may be interested to know that after about 23 years at Archer, she has purchased a 10 acre property at Palmerston (Qld) and hopes to run a B&B from there
