Good afternoon all,

Can someone please tell me if the road from Walgett to Nyngan, via Carinda, is all bitumen?

Kind Regards

Hi Gazza70.
Not 100% sure, I don't think so.
Why via Carinda.

Hey mate,

Only reason via Carinda is Google says it is the quickest route from Toowoomba where I live. Have been through Nyngan many times via Dubbo etc, just looking for a different drive, preferably sealed road.

Cheers

EOtopo is still showing around fifty odd km of dirt? I guess if you want to go the way less travelled, but Google is not my favourite for these type of trips. You often are taken ducking and diving on country lanes running into tractors, looking for obscure small roads and while you get a different view I don't find it particularly relaxing, one of the times when I'd prefer to look at a paper map and pick the way.

When I was sculling around there 20 years ago I travelled from Willie Retreat on bitumen. We camped there for a few days and did a loop around the top half of the Macquarie Marshes. The road was gravel from Willie Retreat to Cardina via Quambone and bitumen on the sway home the direct way. I am not sure of the Cardina to Walgett part but I believe it is also sealed.

If you are looking for a stop around that part of your trip, I can recommend Willie Retreat.

Hey Gazza70,

I came that way in June this year and it was all bitumen.
