Gramps, was the rough part from Emu to Coober Pedy?

I assume it wasn't too bad on the West of Emu.

From memory, the worst and longest sections of corrugations were between Emu and Coober Pedy. West of Emu was mostly sand and rocky sections. All OK provided you drive sensibly and take the 'chicken tracks' where appropriate.

I drove it west to east in 2019. The west end is wide and graded. The road gradually shrinks to a single track, and deteriorates in quality, as you continue east. Emu through Mabel Creek was brutally corrugated.

As noted in other responses, there will also be some rocks, sand in stretches, and plenty of encroaching vegetation.

You're probably on top of this, but keep an eye on Ilkurlka Roadhouse. They've been closed for a bit due to covid, but their website says they're reopening on 19 July. Of course, things could change and they might close again, which could be a problem if you were already out on the AB!

About 16.5L/100.. I ran quite low pressures which contributed to that.

It's damn nice trek even if a bit corro.
Maintain a close watch for washouts and keep the tyre pressures low where needed. Should be more comfortable in the Prado than in my Troopy but.
