Heading out along the
Outback Way (
Great Central Road) in July and was wondering if it is one permit, ie: one from
Laverton to Uluru or are two required. Getting a bit confused if we needed another from WA border to Uluru. Have been to the web site but not sure.
Also any advice on permits we need to do
Oodnadatta track, Lake Eyre then into top half of
Flinders ranges. Realize will need a SA National Park pass for Flinders as
well. Thanks for any help.

You will only need the 2 permits one for WA and the second for the NT.
No permits required for the
Oodnadatta Track.
As for the Flinders, only for the National Parks section, as there are many great
places to also visit outside of the National Park

Not unless you want to go out to Halligans Bay on Lake Eyre. I believe you need a permit for this.
Macca.

The
Great Central Road Trek, on this website, details two permits, one for each state.
Oodnadatta track, Lake Eyre and Flinders Ra don't require any as far as I know.
Cheers

You need a Desert Parks Pass to visit
Halligan Bay out of
William Creek. You can get a day pass at the hotel.

Maybe get one before as on my last visit (sept 2019) the
William Creek Hotel told me they don't supply Desert Parks Passes. Even though the was a sign out front suggesting otherwise........

There was a payment box just at the start of the track not far from the
Oodnadatta Track turn off a while back. I don't know if it's still there, time flies.

Payment box was no longer there in 2019. You need to use the SA online system. In 2019 only Optus at William Ck. Ditto pmk03, WC would not do day passes. Because it was so difficult rangers weren't enforcing the need for a pass. Probably changed now. Think you might have been able to get a full Desert Pass.
Pink Roadhouse was similar.

Allow plenty of time in the Flinders. Special place.
Brachina Gorge is one of our favourite
camp areas.

The Yellow Footed
Rock Wallabys have been knocked about badly by the drought, but certainly keep your eyes peeled.
In 2019 Arkaroola were hand feeding and watering a mob near the
homestead to maintain a breeding stock there.
Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby.

On the way back from
Cape Melville.
We actually saw a female Eclectus parrot the same day. Very fast and no
pic unfortunately.
Then a day later these ... there were 11 of them, all together on a freshly burnt patch on the side of the road.

In November we were in
Corner Country and the Flinders and I couldn't believe how many budgies we came across. In the last 20 years of travel out there I haven't really registered they were there but this time, all we could hear everywhere were budgies. Hard to spot in the trees really and they take off quickly if you get close. Has anyone else noticed a
population explosion?

We passed a flock of a100 or more red tailed cockatoos coming back from the east MacDonell ranges in July 2019. They were all over the road and surrounding trees. Fantastic site.
Also an amazing amount of red tailed in the
Kimberley at
Mitchell falls and Mornington
camp.
