Err ...do you watch the news?

You can't go to Birdsville or Bedourie at the moment. Everything is closed and they are not welcoming visitors.

Closed

I think if you turned up you'd have rocks thrown at you. That goes or every town right now.

Is it a good road? It depends on what you are driving. It's a rough stony corrugated road that will definitely not have much traffic. It is open to 4wd only north of Mungarannie at the moment. You would probably be the only vehicle.

Maybe the OP is just trying to get home with just one border crossing.

Maybe qldcamper, but that wasn't the question. Any route to Qld via NSW and even Vic would involve only one closed border.

Current border restrictions are on this page.

These seem less stringent than what has been reported, so if I were you I would phone Queensland Health, tell them your circumstances and act on their advice.

As to road condition, others have advised that.

Good luck, that's a long way to get home. Personally I'd travel through as many large towns as possible, heading as east as reasonable on the way. It may be hard to get fuel, accommodation and supplies in smaller remote towns and you won't be welcome.

If you can, take extra fuel.

Our news last night showed the police doing random vehicle checks on roads like the Birdsville Track and from what I could gather only letting locals through. You may encounter road blocks in Maree.

Safe travels what ever you end up doing.

NSW borders are not closed ( yet ). Get into NSW and get to Qld via the shortest route ( not dirt roads or the outback ). You will be stopped at the Qld border and I presume you will be allowed to travel all the way to Cairns for your 2 week lockdown ?
