I thought the Desert Parks were exempted from the online system, but apparently day permits are now also only available online, no self registration or purchase from
William Creek or the
Pink Roadhouse. We were told the
ranger at Dalhousie no longer issues them either. Both the
William Creek Pub and the
Pink Roadhouse told us that rangers are just turning a blind eye to people without one.

Both
William Creek and
Oodnadatta have Optus coverage if you have an Optus phone and want to do the right thing. Telstra and other providers are back at
Coober Pedy or
Hawker or elsewhere!

All good if you know before hand. By the way the staff at both
places spoke it was a recent change?
