Tanami condition report

Some water on the road and water damage around Yuendumu.
Good condition from there to the Granites mine roughly.
Very good to the Crater turnoff.
Medium corrugations from there to the Highway.

Didn't see any significant bulldust holes or other surprises.

Generally it was possible to do 80-90 without continual weaving. (Aired down with shocks not clapped out). I started at the top end and hit Yuendumu after 10.5 hours of driving.

At the bottom end the bitumen now extends almost to there.

There's road trains up to the mine - with very courteous drivers - and little traffic north of that till the Crater road junction.

There's Telstra mobile phone reception around the mine.

Compared with the Kintore / Gary Junction Road the scenery is boring but the history, aboriginal art, and the ecology aren't. The Westprint map is worth getting.
