If anyone's interested , we've just done the adelaide/oodnadata/dalhousie/french line/birdsville/
adelaide loop. The road sections are very good except north of Oodnadata to Dalhousie which was only a bit rough. Crossing the French line from the west is quite easy if you're not badly overloaded , I used 92 lts. diesel from Oodnadata to
Birdsville in my 3lt. hilux , (15lt/100km) and 12lt/100km on road sections. A 3lt isuzu
well loaded with me gave similar figures.
Birdsville diesel cost $1.60 . Hope that's helpful . Bye .

Thanks George.
We are heading that direction in June. Though conditions change it is good to get track updates in real time.

Thanks for the report, George. Heading E-W later this month, along the French Line.
Just reading some notes from last year, used 16L/100 in a 2015 Landcruiser ute, from
Birdsville to Mt Dare, via QAA, French Line, Knolls, Rig, Erabena, WAA &
Rig Road. A Dmax with us used a lot less fuel, but don't have a figure.

Thanks George. I'm crossing in late June in my LC (my 14 th time!!!), with a novice mate in an Isuzu so your fuel figures are very useful for us to calculate his needed amount.
I wish more people would put info like this on this
forum immediately after trips.
Thanks.

Hi Kieth , Just one thing, I came from the west and the sandhills are steeper and more rutted from the east , so you'll use a bit more fuel . We averaged about 100km per day .
