Coromal owners

This is just a curiosity we have. Friends travelling behind us on the highway thought we were "crabbing". We investigated and what we found is quite interesting. We believe the reason is that the "van" itself if off centre on the chassis...photo attached. The towball does not seem to line up with the centre of the van (I.e. the circular handles on the boot and front hatch)

Ours is a 2004 Princeton 602.

Be interested to know if other Coromal owners' vans are similar

WOW. That one went through the QC section. Quick Check I mean.

The Seller must be blind and stupid to sell something which so out of alignment, either that or repairs have been done to the A frame and welded not to the centre line of the vehicle. Vehicle in one lane and caravan in left lane is a problem.

Has the A frame been bent sideways to the right by a jack knife during backing.

The area around the tow ball coupling seems odd.
It does need investigation to ensure integrity at least.

After talking to a caravanning friend, he mentioned the Coromal brand was good when Coral and Mal made vans, after they departed all went quickly down hill (without a tow vehicle). Quality suffered for the almighty $$$$$ worship.

A blind man on a dark night with the lights out could make a straight chassis.

Where are the wheels in relation to the edge of the body??

If they are the same distance in from the edge then that will by why its crabbing.

I'd be taking it back and demanding a refund as it is clearly defective and will not be easy to fix.

It must be a thing with Coromal vans, we had a similar vintage (bought new) off road single axle pop top that had a similar issue, only found when I was making a stone guard for the front. The dealer, and Coromal, at the time did not want to know anything about it. Did not affect the towing or use of the van apart from one mirror having to be further extended than the other.

We had 2008 Princeton 724 and I noticed it was crabbing On measuring from the center of the towhitch to the front of each spring there was a difference.
I took it to a truck alignment shop in Albany who confirmed it . I contacted Coromal as the van was only a couple of months old.
It cost them $900 for the guy to weld new plates on to relocate the spring hangers.
They werent thrilled and neither was I especially as later they had to replace the boot door and window cover as they both cracked. Then the cupboard door inside the entrance had to be replaced and a couple of other warranty jobs were done when we got back home. The name should start with CR omal. Wouldnt have another one if it was a gift. This is not a name and shame it is verifyable fact in answer to the OP's question

Could be pretty accurate.

To quote Barry Davidson, former caravan builder and leading RV repairer.

"“Some of them haven’t got a clue. They buy themselves a glue gun and a screw gun and call themselves a caravan manufacturer,” he says."

Great read that and many comments form owners resemble the problems we had with a dealer (about the largest in WA) and our then new Gold Crap van.
Started with fuses in vehicle always blowing stopping indicators, aircon and other stuff working. Retailer reckoned the rewiring should be paid by us!!!
Then there was excessive tyre wear, cupboards opening, fridge door opening and stuff all over van, curtains with holes in, pelmets falling off.
Old bloke (now deceased - good) reckoned it was our fault and told me to get out of his yard on more than one occassion.
Eventually fixed after our daughter noticed the bad low speed wobbling of the wheels.... they were so bad they couldn't be balanced. We were then accused of abusing the van and going off road! Hang on, that's what we paid an extra 3 grand for.
Anyway mostly fixed through constant calling consumer affairs who were reluctant to take on an "icon of the industry" and eventually the small claims court.
New wheels and all the additional costs we'd paid were covered very quickly by the maker who never ever responded to me emails.
Old blokes eldest son who ran the yard phoned me and said "I wouldn't have paid". What a tosser.
New curtains arrived screwed up bundled up tightly in a plastic bag requiring lots of ironing to make them look better.
What an attitude from the yard we'd purchased 3 RVs from, 2 from the same crap builder in Melbourne.

Certainly out a bit it would play tricks with you when your looking in the mirrors odd question but does it cause any more wear on the vans tyres.

Also reminds me that I've noticed a few of the new cruiser 70 ser utes crabbing up the road over the past yr or 2 must be a Toyota thing when you can see anything from 2' to 4" of difference between the front and rear

That 70 series cruiser track issue noticed as crabbing, is because each rear wheel is 47 mm inside the front on each side, total of 84mm less track on rear I am told. I haven't measured one though.
If their rear spring front eye bushes are stuffed or centre bolt broken then it will be moreso.

It was a typo. like my blood group. Yes Tom, 94mm. I typed 94 but phat fingers made it otherwise. Didn't notice, poor proof reading skills.
