Bill - It's a PhotoShopped ad. There's no
Caltex service station on any isolated country highway - they're all located in towns.
Type "
caltex service stations" into Google and click on maps, then zoom out until you can see all the
Caltex servos around Australia.
There's none in areas where there's no civilisation around it.
Even the one in
Forbes is still within the town boundary - although Google has positioned it wrongly.
You can zoom in on any
Caltex servo you select to
check out, and drag the little yellow man to
the spot to get the street view.
There's no
Caltex servo that you can't get a street view of, in Google.
If you stop the ad at the 24 second mark, and go full screen, you'll see the servo looks a bit dodgy.
There's no driveway leading into it off the highway, no powerlines - and no trucks, as you'd expect in an isolated outback area.
Such is the subtle deviousness of marketing and advertising!
Cheers, Ron.
