Hi all
Looking at taking the big motorcycle (a cruiser - not off-road capable at all) camping at some point. Vittoria
State Forest looks like a nice remote place. Anyone know what the access road to the
camping area is like? If it's solid, flat gravel then I should be able to manage it. If it's very loose, or rocky, or has steep sections, it might present a hassle for what will be a 350kg one-wheel-drive :)
Thanks!

You will be alright with a motorbike. The access road from the hwy is good, but there is nothing there to see or do there. There is no set out
camping area. Its just a
state forest. And as this is a
state forest you might be sharing it with law abiding, licenced/permit holding recreational shooters.

I forgot that there are 3 sections to Vittoria SF. Which one are you looking at? There are 2 on the left side of the why heading to
Orange and 1 on the right heading to
orange. From
Bathurst heading west you pass a
Y junction, the left heads to
Millthorpe just past that there is a
farm house/old store right beside the hwy with access to the 1st Vittoria SF and as far as I'm aware that is the only one with access. The 2nd one on the right you come to is fenced off and access only on foot with permission from the local farmer is required as he has grazing rights, and the one on the right past the 2nd one was closed to public about a year ago, but that may have changed since.

I meant the 2nd on the left is fenced off.

This one -
http://www.forestrycorporation.com.au/visiting/forests/vittoria-state-forest (
Macquarie Woods). Don't mind shooters as long as they don't shoot ME! :) Although that WOULD put a stop to hunting in state forests pretty quickly... Hopefully they have boundaries on where they can be hunting to keep them away from designated camping areas. Also, I don't care there's nothing there. That actually makes it all the better :)

The place in that link (
Macquarie Woods) is a great
camping area and you will have no problems taking the bike in. Its just a short bit of good dirt road. There are
toilets there and plenty of nice grassy area to
camp alongside a couple of dams.

Do you recall if there is much deadwood around I can use for fires? Strapping an axe to the back of the bike might get some unwanted attention ;)
