ya better
check out ur bullbars, i read in the paper that they're gonna bring in a $225 fine with 3 license points for "unsafe" bullbars and other illegal protrusions...
if ur booty-fab bar doesn't meet the standards, that's a bit of a hit to take that many points
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now who decides what is safe and whats not???
one bloke mentions
"my cruiser got defected for sharp edges on the standard rear bar.
I was like, 'the bar is standard mate, take it up with toyota' "

I'd love to believe it was a safety issue - but then we have (1) hospitals in crisis, (2) Redfern, (3) stupid Land Taxes ..... and Bob Carr is event thinking of declaring my front lawn a National Park.

Col,
The fact that the Gov wastes money on bull bleep is part of the arguement, then to pay for that they have to rip off the tax payers with other Non Taxes... We are gettin shafted... since they cant ban bullbars, lets kill them off with some bollox rule that we can exploit at will...
This fine is one of those "innocent" non Taxes that we are going to get raped for.
Now again, who decides what is an unsafe bullbar? The cops who have quotas to fill? or common sense? You tell me.

Hey Truckster,
I can just see Toyota giving me a Factory bullbar that does not meet regulations. The lawyers would have a field day on that one after the fact.
Retrospective legislation is always tricky, it is difficult to take away what you already have as opposed to not allowing future entitlement (I can just see the current crop of MPs giving up their 51% taxpayer subsidised super scheme).
You can only comply with the regulations in effect at the time.

Steve...
It was a rear bar, and as I said, its up to interpretation... Whose is what I wanna know.
They can say your headlights arent good enough if "THEY" want.... "THEY" can do pretty much what they like to issue you with a fine, like the spashing mud on someone waiting for a bus ??? $125!!
On another subject, talkin to a bloke at Wandin in the Paj club, his Mighty playdoe blew the complete front end and transfer case under 30,000klms! CV's C&P the lot..
$20,000 repair bill..
he got Warranty, but he traded it in the day he got it back! Dont blame him.. BUt he got a 3.0 GU!!! Talk about from the pot into the fire...

If you want to relate the Redfern issue back to Bullbars and 4WDs in general then perhaps you should look at what happens "up north". I have been to an aboriginal mission and seen something to break my heart. A row of rolled, bent or otherwise bleep ed Toyotas - none with more than 10,000km on the clock sittng in the paddock rusting away and paid for by you know who - you!
Its is the same with boats on
the beach. There is that much money going around that these things are used until they are stuffed - no maintenace or care - and then left on the side of the road or on
the beach. Then the guverment provides a new one!
Meanwhile I am paying tens of thousands in tax to keep this going.
The indiginous culture may have problems and i am all for helping out BUT while I see my tax dollars being wasted like this it does dull my enthusiasm!

Yeah , a mate of
mine was flying charters out of Kunanurra at the top of wa, all the pilots up there do a few low passes when they see a car stationary on the side of the road, a lot of the time they are new toyos that have been driven until they run out of fuel, then left with the doors open and abandoned. They can call some people who pay
well for the location and come and give them a good
home ( if you know what i mean) He also had to do many charters in a twin engine lasting hours, to deliver a carton of ciggies - yes all willingly paid for by the taxpayers rulers. Fair ol eyr opener goin on up there...Just killin time till
easter...............go and play in the dirt, instead of workin in it......

That's the way the system works......if you don't like it then go and live somewhere else.....our tax dollars pay for lots of things most of them positive stuff. All you can do if you do not underdstand the indigenous culture is to laugh about what is perceived by some of us as their funny ways....everybody is different....whitefellas do some pretty stupid things as
well......

The problem is the government which continually panders to this minority group rather than have them assimilate into society just like everyone else from other countries have had to do.
Their argument about "our land" and the stolen generation,
well you notice that there is only interest in land with either pastoral or mineral values, you dont see a rush for marilinga and as far as the stolen generation its probably a good thing as it gave the stolen few a chance of education and a means to break out of the environment.
Its unfortunate that there are no role models for them to look up only white blacks that have a chip on their shoulders and only propagate the vicious circle.

Leave your racist sentiments for other forums not here on EO. I am not living in lala land but object to you putting your extreme
views on this, which for all intents and purposes, is a four wheel drive, camping and travel
forum. You do not know who you are conversing with. I may be an indigenous person or have indigenous family. I do not appreciate your extreme
views relating to indigenous matters. Apart from that those
views have nothing to do with this
forum.

The point I am making is that one should keep political, religious and racist
views away from this
forum. All kinds of bigotry exists in peoples minds and while there is free speech in this country and while we operate as a perceived democracy, I am of the opinion that what has been said about indigenous people within this thread is not necessary on this

the only people who could not be pi$$ed off with the way things are all for one and not equal, is someone who is on the lucky side of the coin.
Freedom of speech is dead. Happened to a bloke at work, he was called a White *#$(#*&$(#$& and called the other person something, guess who won?

Hey Willem
I'm sure your a very nice bloke. Never met you but you gotta be nice.
However mate, DO NOT tell me to go live somewhere else if I don't like the system. Just because it's the system does not make it true and correct. I was born in this country as was my Mum & Dad and their Mums and Dads and their Mums and Dads.
If I don't like the system then it's my right to complain and do everything in my power (legally) to have the system changed. We might have lived off the shep's back for many years Willem, but that does not mean I have to follow blindly every inane idea that some self-centered, money grubbing pollie comes up with. Their agenda is for themselves and their club. Not for you and me. Willem mate, get your head out of the desert sands. Their is a huge amount of inequality in this country. Maybe once it was against the indigenous people but now it's is defenitely against us.
Tell me mate, why should and indigenous person have the right to charge people for driving down"his" road. If I tried that in reverse I'd get locked up. But nothing happens to them.
Sorry Willem. I'm sure you're a
well meaningbloke. But you hit a raw nerve.
Time for another beer.

I think this thread got a bit out of line, but reading some of the remarks from members has convinced me of one thing - I will not become a member. I have worked in the outback for a lot of years and some of my best mates are indigenous Australians and always will be. I have seen what white European assimilation has done to the traditional owners of this country and it is not good.
I agree with Willem on this issue - keep your rascist remarks off this
