A senior
ranger is not sure how a freshwater crocodile has ended up in an outback river system at
Birdsville in Queensland's far south-west.
The
ranger-in-charge of the
Simpson Desert National Park, Don Rowlands, says local residents spotted the one-and-a-half metre long reptile in the Diamantina River at the town this morning.
Thead
here.
Maybe they could hold crocodile races.
Cheers,
Val

Hope a Topend local can enlighten us, but don't salties inhabit fresh water too at times ? Doesn't matter much how it got there - if I was fishing the Diamantina I'd like to know which variety it is :-o).

Poor bugger I would have thought the water might run out in the bear future but I'm not up to date with water levels at
Birdsville.?

That's brilliant....this story is right up there with the golf club that claims to have a shark in their
dam, they even convinced one the tv networks to do a story on it....funny stuff.
