To be honest, I really don't think it matters. In fact, having van tyres filled with N is INMHO getting into tosser territory. As you would be aware, your tyres loose air/N over time in any event. Would it have been your intention to have them topped up with N if you never left town?
I reckon in normal use the only N left in them would be that from the atmosphere, which is 78.09%.
My advice (for what its worth, which usually isn't a great deal) would be to ignore the issue completely. Air down as you deem necessary and top up with 78.09% N, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.039% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases..

It's not a problem in tyres but if you think it's not a problem for the environment then you've been in the ozone hole for far too long.

Isn't it a bit silly for the Australian outback.
Rock up to the swervo at Tibuburra and ask them to pump up the tyres with a bit with nitrogen for you. I know what the response would be. "You gotta be pulling my leg mate!!" Just the right line for an Ettamoga Pub cartoon.
I would not buy any vehicle (dont be stipid you lot) with initrogen in the tyres and if possible I would take it back and get them to get rid of the gas and just use air. Plain old contaminated air.
Ain't no nitrogen on the CSR now is there.

Phil,
Servos are hopeless for this. What you do is go to the local doctor as he has plenty of nitrogen to treat sun spots.
I must admit it is a little expensive, as he will charge for the nitrogen + his driveway service. That one is the killer at $70 but you do get $35 back from medi carcare.

Don't know Rockape.... think If I went to the Doc for nitrogen for my tyres and he used it....... I would have bigger problems than trying to keep air in them.
At -196 Deg C. I might have a problem with them shattering....

You would have to watch it out around the mines.
A little story: "Oh damn" says the bloke at the
gate. "I though that he said nitro glycerine. Oops Just dig a hole and put what's left in it. .No one will bother. He was just a polly. "

My doc has a hearing problem as yesterday he shattered my face.
I said to him bugger, I wanna run cool man so he gave me a blast right in the face. Then when I explained what I required he gave my feet a blast so I could run cool.
No, no shattering of the running gear. I had my silicon double plugger thongs on and I can highly recommend them. They with stood everything thrown at them.
All I have to do now that the double pluggers are nitrogen filled, is find the ignition keys to
test them out
I thought I was floating on air but it turned out I was on Nitrous oxide.
Ha.Ha.

Good to see Japanese safety boots were worn...... you know they are
mine site approved as long as you have the reflective tape and the thong number clearly visible on the sides.
We are talking about the same type of thongs..... you know the ones you where on your feet?

I agree with Rosco, it costs me $26.00 for a E size of nitrogen and I can do about 100 tyres with it...... how much do they charge to do it at tyre
places?????
There are advantages of nitrogen over every day air, in some situations nitrogen has a bigger molecule size reducing leakage and seeing it is dry there is no moisture to evaporate increasing tyre pressures.
BUT unless you're using it for motorsport and are after every 100th of a second or you're a long distance transport operator there is no need for nitrogen.
Nitrogen for car tyres must be the biggest "must have" scam in the automotive industry to date.

Mine came with the same filling in the tyres.
I never bothered with lowering the presssure on the few tracks I did on my recent trip. Just slowed down a little.
I would also guess it would depend on the track your on. The Oodnadata was fine this trip. Other times it might not be from what I have heard.

Save your money headbolt.
100% nitrogen goes into aeroplane and race tyres for valid reasons, but I just can't see a valid cost vs gain to do it myself.

I'm intrigued to know why Jayco are selling tyres filled with Nitrogen?
As said above, unless its for aircraft tyres or motor sport is a heap of crap!!
