I have a Jayco Outback Sterling van (two years old). Would this be suitable for the
Oodnadatta Track?

Not a problem, I did the track last week. I also owned same van a few years ago.

Hi
Grey Nomadic,
We were told not to take our 23ft Roadstar up that track last year by
well intentioned people that we met along the way, one piece of advice I did listen to was to let your tyre pressure down on the van as
well as the vehicle, very sound advice, we had no problems doing the trip and the road was in fairly good condition, some said it was rough but we thought that it was no rougher that the roads we travelled on in the top end and Kimberly's in the seventies in a TE Cortina station wagon. Just remember lower tyre pressures and drive to the conditions and you should be fine, and enjoy the trip we certainly did.

Hi GN, I concur with Broodie watch your pressures and run at least 20% less than in bitumen. There were 20+ ft vans everywhere last week on the track, it's a bit like a dirt hwy. Best advice I can give you is listen to people who have recently done a track in "current " conditions as there are plenty on this site that will offer advice from a trip they did 5 years ago and the odd armchair advisor that got it from Book! Especially on the Simpson!

I agree with David 16, our trip was last year so we are old news, talk to the people around you as you travel some will be coming from where your going, and will be more up to date with local conditions.

Same as Brodie, did it last year but the road is good to
William creek and out to
coober pedy. But on to
oodnadatta and then out to
coober pedy the road was pretty ordinary in parts.
