Hi mark,
I posted a blog about a week ago describing a
Walkers Crossing trip that we did in 2007. There is also a blog of a trip we did in 2011 going west from Camerons Corner. Its an attractive bit of country though may be rather dry out there at present.
Cheers,
Val

Suggest you have a GPS because the tracks are poorly signposted and if we didn't have the GPS we would have probably struggled to find our way through.

A basic compass will assist to keep you pointed in the right direction but I use a VMS GPS which has a selection for street and off road navigation.
I am not familiar with oztopo so can't comment.

I started from the Birdville track end so found my way through Moomba ok but would understand people getting lost coming the other way as it was not
well marked but you will be right

Opposite way but I towed my 21' Supreme Territory from Moomba to
Birdsville via
Walkers Crossing in 2009

The following was posted in the Westprint
newsletter 2 days ago:
"Recently I, with a party of people travelled
Walkers Crossing from The
Birdsville Track to
Innamincka. The track was in excellent condition as it had only been opened a week when we used it. The
grader had been along from the
Birdsville end for quite a distance. Greg.

Alice Springs currently and he's mentioned it's raining there.
