Regal & Roadstar Caravans

Hi all.
My wife and I are considering an upgrade to a purpose built van to replace our current Jayco Outback 21.65 Sterling.
We have in mind to look at both Regal & Roadstar brands with the Regal Commander model (about 22') high on the "like" list of the wife.
Would love to hear from anybody who has either brands (or had) along with any pros and cons.
Any other constructive comment would be most welcome and help us before an anticipated visit to each factory in Victoria.
In addition I would be interested to learn of either brand build capabilities in minor off road conditions ie. off the black stuff but not major off road conditions.

Hi Peter, We currently own a 23ft loa Roadstar 1996 vintage, it has a simplicity suspension and we have towed it up the Oodnadatta track, from the Flinders rangers to William creek and across to Coober Pedy, and back to Perth on Roads of various surfaces and no troubles what so ever to talk about. I can't comment on the Newer vans by Roadstar as I believe they are being built by someone else now, and when we were at the Perth caravan and Camping show my wife would have traded our van in on the Regal, or Royal Flair but she still hasn't made up her mind, and as I keep telling her its not, the Dollars that you have to spend to upgrade but also what the build quality is like against what you already have, and what are your requirements for future travel. all said and done we still have our 1996 Roadstar, and probably will have for another ten years. LOL

Hi Peter,
My wife and I own a 2004 Roadstar Trackvan and touch wood have never had a issue with it. We have towed this van over many kilometres of dirt road and over a lot of tar during the time we have owned it.
I have talked to other owners of Roadstar vans and have only had positive feedback so I think they are good value for money. Lotus vans seem to be good also.
Hope you get a good van and have a trouble free trip around Australia.

Another bugger with a blue boot eh bill ? I got mine re-covered in a top quality marine grade vinyl and it looks better than new now.

We have a Roadstar 2011 LE offroad, and absolutely love it. Any trip wedo starts with a minimum of 300km's dirt road before we even hit the bitumen, and apart from normal things like having to go over everything to tighten up each trip, no probs at all.
They are a well built bit of kit.
