Boonah - QLD

Boonah is a 90 minute drive south west from downtown Brisbane. Take the Ipswich Motorway and Cunningham Highway to Boonah, or via Beaudesert on the Mt. Lindesay Highway.Main Range, Mount Barney and Moogerah Peaks National Parks are easily accessible from Boonah, as are Lake Moogerah and Lake Maroon – two great places for water sports and fishing.The township of Boonah, which is home to some 2500 people, supports the outlying areas of Kalbar, Harrisville, Peak Crossing, Aratula, Mount Alford, Roadvale, Warrill View, Rosevale, Maroon and Dugandan.Dairying and pig-raising played important roles in the area's development during the 20th century, before being overtaken by intensive agriculture. Recent decades have seen a return to cattle grazing.Boonah's heritage and country charm have helped to drive the Scenic Rim's progressive tourism industry, with several wineries, farm stays and bed and breakfast businesses attracting visitors to the region.
