Attractive small flower spikes, usually at the end of branches, are cylindrical about 25mm long. When individual brownish coloured flowers are fully open the long yellow hooked styles give the plant its common name. Old seed cones have a gnarled appearance. Grows in deep sand.
Flowering start in August.
