The track was first cut back at the start of the 19th century to give prospectors access to the gold fields around Balfour.
It is not an extremely difficult track. The difficulty comes from the isolation and if you get stuck there aren't any trees to use as winch points. The water can be almost "over the bonnet" as seen in our videos. The difficulty comes from the long canal like water crossings which can be well over 70 meters long. Surrounding soil can be very boggy and it is advised not to use bypass tracks.
Solo or single vehicle travel and trailers are not recommended.
A pass is required from the Arthur River Conversation Park. The rangers at Arthur River are extremely helpful and can give track conditions.
The track is seasonal and open from October to March.
