Description

Traditional ANZAC Biscuits The original ANZAC biscuit was known as an ANZAC wafer or tile and was part of the rations given to ANZAC soldiers during World War I. They were included instead of bread because they had a much longer shelf life.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups of plain Flour,
  • 2 cups of rolled Oats,
  • 2 cups of desicated coconut,
  • 1.5 cups of brown sugar,
  • 250g of butter,
  • 4 Table spoons of Golden Syrup,
  • 2 tsp of bicard of soda

Method

  • Step 1Mix flour, oats, coconut and brown sugar in large mixing bowl,
  • Step 2Melt butter in saucepan
  • Step 3Add Golden Syrup to butter and bring to boil,
  • Step 4Disolve Bicarb in warm water (about 2 tablespoons of water should do)
  • Step 5Add dissolved Bicard to butter/Golden syrup mix,
  • Step 6Add liquid to dry ingredients and mix well,
  • Step 7spoon out mix onto baking trays allowing room for the mix to expand,
  • Step 8Bake in a Moderate oven for approx 10-15 mins or until golden brown.
